Isha Sinha and Jasmine Bal of Class IX prepared and presented a model of a Solar Powered House at the CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition held at Sanskriti KMV School, Jallandhar from 11 – 13 December 2015.
Speaking about the project they said:
“The SPH is a house that passively uses solar energy to reduce electricity consumption. Our house aims at being sustainable in terms of power utilization by using the passive solar design, recyclable materials for building, tubular skylights that bring natural sunlight up to the basement areas and passive air conditioning through underground air channels along with solar chimneys. It passively utilizes the infinite natural resource of sunlight without actually converting it into electricity through solar cells. Hence, it not only acts as a useful and economic way of acclimatizing the home but, is also eco-friendly. It, therefore, acts as the ultimate practice which will not fail to sustain homes as well as the environment for our future generations”.
The model has been selected for the National level CBSE Science Exhibition to be held at New Delhi in February 2016.
